During my tenure in the Honors Program, I’ve been able to exemplify its four goals: thinking critically, exhibiting a

commitment to community awareness through service, demonstrating an excellence in verbal and written communication, and exemplifying my experience of engaging with diverse perspectives. In showcasing my experiences in accomplishing these four goals, I looked back at some assignments I found to be engaging.

For instance, the leadership interview assignment from Smestad’s Foundations of Leadership was one my favorite

assignments to discuss. I learned about the differences in leadership between two leaders in the Minot area, which taught me to learn from leaders to understand them better.

Overall, the courses from the Honors Program have impacted my education by encouraging me to overcome my weakness

in communication and strengthen through course assignments. This benefits me for the future by providing me the skills necessary to get into marketing. Without good communication skills, I would be unprepared for the marketing field, and I have the Honors Program to thank for my developments in education.
